There is pushback on this term, even within the aro community. Some people argue that fluctuating on romantic attraction is normal for all people and therefore does not qualify as a romantic orientation. There is a lot of mix-up between the terms aromantic and asexual. Aromantic means you are not interested in romance but you may very well be interested in sex.
